This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Pre-Kindergarten is an important time in young children's lives. PreK has become what our traditional kindergarten used to be. This is the time for young children to learn to use paint, glue, and scissors and to begin to express their creativity.

Our classroom is a co-taught full day program in a public elementary school.

We have 16 students between the ages of three and five, six of which have special needs. We are an urban school district in which over 90% of the students qualify for free/reduced meals. Our children spend a full day with us starting with breakfast. We are very busy all day long- reading, writing, singing, sharing, working in centers and playing outside!

My Project

This year we have yet to receive funding for basic classroom supplies. We were unable to order construction paper, paint or glue! We need chart paper, construction paper, glue and paint to inspire creativity and build fine motor skills. Once children move on from PreK there just isn't time for teachers to paint, cut and glue with students. Our children need to acquire these skills now! Our children participate in art center daily. They need these materials readily available.

By donating to this project our children will be able to experience and enjoy art projects, as well as obtain the fine motor skills necessary for the rest of their school career.

They will be able to be inspired to develop and explore their creativity!
