Inspiration and Actualization!

My students need basic set building supplies, and the inspiration that comes from reading about other productions around the country. The subscriptions to American Theatre and ETA's Dramatics will help keep their fire burning!

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my goal is to create a vibrant classroom situation which offers my students every possible opportunity. All students at my school receive free breakfast and lunch daily. They are a diverse group of urban and suburban students, of many nationalities and talents. Yet together, they embody the school motto of pride and passion for achievement.

"We must all do theatre, to find out who we are and to discover who we could become." Augusto Boal

The theatre classes reach 6th-12th graders. For many, this is their first experience with the performing arts. Theatre offers my diverse group of students an opportunity to develop empathy, practical life skills and the strong character needed to be responsible, respectful, and productive citizens in the future.

My Project

So often, we are are swamped with the little things that impair a constructive set build. Budgets are tight, and we fundraise for even the littlest things. We are striving to build up the kids to feel confident in their tech design and in their practical stagecraft abilities. These heavy duty staplers and fasteners will help ensure our safe success. They are essential for building flats, scenic elements and securing set masking.

New subscriptions to American Theatre and ITS's Dramatics will expose our students to the best in high school and professional theatrical production.

These magazine subscriptions will become ongoing inspirations of what can be, and with our new fasteners, our Phoenix Players will build great things!
