This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students come to us lacking many skills. We are constantly focused on standards and often forget about the aptitudes necessary to be successful. Organization and note taking is a skill that is commonly overlooked but is vital to every student’s success. Acquiring a standards based set of unit notes from TPT (giftcards would be used to purchase materials) for grades 6-8 bundles would effectively ensure that my students would be provided a consistent set of presentation/guided/study material covering each unit/standard taught in the curriculum. Additionally, I would have materials for units that need reinforcement from grade 6.
The Language of Math is a crucial component for deeper comprehension.
By consistently embedding vocabulary into a uniformed note taking a format coupled with common core standard-based notes, students will be able to reference the language and content with fidelity across all middle grades. It will also provide vertical continuity as student progress from through to grade 8.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
