My Students

My classroom of special learners work on regulating their emotions through the Zones of Regulation curriculum. This curriculum has helped our students develop an understanding of different emotions, how to perceive others' emotions and get their bodies in a place that is ready for learning.

My students are exceptional people who are eager to love and learn.

Our Zones of Regulation curriculum involves visual supports, multiple disciplines (OT and speech) as well as sensory opportunities. Our students have made connections to the movie Inside Out, as characters provide concrete representations of emotion.

My Project

Students have made connections to Inside Out characters and the emotions they can display. Students need a large representation of these emotions. The Zones of Regulation outline emotions associated with 4 different zones.

The cartoon characters from Inside Out provide a concrete representation of these emotions.

Students will benefit from having a large representation of these on emotions as a permanent display for reference in our classroom.

Zones include red, yellow, green and blue with emotions ranging from elation to boredom. Zones lessons are targeted on a regular basis in order for the students to learn how to identify emotions in themselves as well as in others.
