My Students

Imagine how difficult daily life would be if you couldn't use your computer! Our world is full of technological resources that my students need to access in order to reach their full potential. Today's world requires students to be efficient and successful with technology!

Our school provides an education for students that are amazingly resilient and eager to learn.

Most of our children come from homes and families that are struggling both socially and economically. Many are single parents, foster parents, and grandparents that are working as hard as they can to provide food and clothing for their children. Our school strives to provide additional clothing, food, backpacks, and school supplies, but it is increasingly difficult. My class is an inclusion classroom, which ensures that special needs children are learning alongside their general education peers. This creates an incredibly positive, compassionate atmosphere for all students to learn. My classroom is often the safest, most stable place for kids in the course of their day, and it shows in their eager love of learning! Our students are smart, wonderful and deserving of so much more than what life has brought so far.

My Project

Computers make so many resources available to everyone! With more laptops, more students will have access to the learning and technology that has become so important in today's world. There are countless web resources that provide literacy intervention, computer skills, mathematical and higher level thinking games, keyboard and typing practice, and computer test-taking skills. If students have the ability and opportunity to work independently on computers in the classroom, I would be able to meet more needs in small differentiated groups. Students can have access to fun, educational computer programs, creating an actively engaged classroom that multi-tasks on several different learning activities at once. Not only is this exciting, but it also helps children be effectively prepared for our rapidly changing environment. As they continue their education, they will be able to adapt to more advanced technology because of the outstanding foundation I wish to provide for them!

My students are intelligent and eager, and deserve to have wonderful opportunities for learning! It is generous programs like Donors Choose that make these opportunities possible and creates a world where quality education is accessible to all. You will be providing our children with technology that they wouldn't otherwise have, and that is so important. You will impact their perspective of the world around them and broaden their understanding!
