Innovate - Explore - Discover: Science In The News!
My students need Science World Magazines for the opportunity to transport their learning of the scientific community outside the four walls of our classroom.
Curious, inquisitive, hard-working, just a few of the qualities I admire about my students. My hope is to bring them a love of learning beyond the four walls of our classroom.
"Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge." ~ Carl Sagan
Scientists work together to solve problems, learn from one another, and communicate their successes and failures. These are a few of the skills my scientists practice throughout the school year. They are excited to expand their learning every day they walk into the classroom.
My Project
Over the past three years, Science World Magazine has engaged and excited my scientists. It has given them the opportunity to discover what is happening around the world and apply the concepts they've practiced in class.
Watching my students raise their hands up in excitement, barely able to contain the new piece of learning they just read, wanting to share with me brings the biggest smile to my face.
Many times it leads to additional inquiry and discovery.
I want my students this year to have the same learning opportunities. The Science World Magazines will be used for reinforcing concepts taught in the classroom, making real-world connections and current events. Students will share a class set of classroom magazines, along with access to the archived articles and videos in Biology, Chemistry, Earth Science, Engineering/Technology, and Physics. This allows students to drive their own curiosity.
