My students are full of energy, excited to learn, engaged in school and love to be active. They all come from families that live in poverty, and struggle to come to school with adequate supplies. My students love Physical Education class and love learning new sports. I see the excitement in their eyes when they grasp new skills and concepts. They feel accomplished when they are successful. They love competition and teamwork to help build healthy relationships with their fellow classmates.
I’d like to be able to introduce lacrosse to my students. Most have never played lacrosse or even seen it played. Learning new games and different sports opens a new world up to my awesome students. Many inner city schools don’t have the facilities or access to the equipment to play lacrosse or even have it introduced to them.
Learning about the history of lacrosse and how it’s changed over many years will be something my students enjoy.
Lacrosse will also give my students an opportunity to build on teamwork as well as develop better hand-eye coordination.
With this equipment my students will learn about the rules of the game, how to throw and catch, as well as the great social aspects of the sport.
