Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I will be teaching kindergarten this coming September. The state budget cuts in Education have greatly affected our school and staff. We have very limited play resources that kindergarten children desperately need to learn and grow socially & academically.

My students live in a high need community where their parent's are struggling to meet their most basic essential needs.

I teach at a high poverty inner city school in Los Angeles, California where our budget has been drastically cut and resources are very limited.

My Project

As a Kindergarten teacher it is very important to provide young children opportunities to learn through play. When children play with blocks,legos and puzzles they develop their muscles and their minds. They learn to play cooperatively with other children.They also learn to count, match, sort, group,add and subtract. As a child is building, they are experimenting with gravity, balance, and geometric shapes. Working with blocks also improves their reading, writing skills, creativity and problem solving skills.Children also learn social and emotional skills.They make sense of what they see adults doth also have a safe way to explore emotions like anger and fear by acting them out in pretend worlds. They develop physically. Children develop both large and fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination when they play with blocks.
