My Students

My students are fifth-graders from a rural area in West Virginia. Our middle school consists of grades 5-8. My learners come to the middle school from two elementary schools in the county. Our school is 100% free breakfast and lunch.

My students want to learn in different ways which includes hands-on learning.

This is sometimes difficult without much needed supplies.

My Project

My students always struggle with informational text. I want to be able to give them the books they need to improve this skill.

Please help my students get biographies in their hands!

My project focuses on students learning about famous Americans by reading biographies. They will create timelines and research projects based on their findings while reading. They will also create presentations and share what they learned while reading with their classmates. This project will encompass not only reading/language arts, but social studies as well. This is sure to be a great cross curricular project!
