Help me give my students the opportunity to use current technology resources to expand their knowledge. Having these iPads available for them will open the gates to a plethora of apps and websites that can help them learn.
The school where I work at is located in a low-income area. The majority of our kids come from households of immigrant parents who work multiple jobs just to keep a roof over their heads. At times, that roof may be shared with other families or can even be the garage of some one's house. Although this is extremely difficult for me because my heart breaks knowing their living conditions, I try to make the best of it knowing I get to share a few hours with them in my classroom everyday. Teaching them life skills, academic skills and simply putting a smile on their faces, gives me all the motivation to be the best teacher I can be for them.
IPad's will offer my students the additional support they need to keep up with the advancements in education. Education is changing every single day and technology plays a big role in those advancements.
Having these iPad's will give my students access to a plethora of apps and websites that can help them expand their minds.
We will use the iPad's as resources during STEAM lessons. The iPad's will help incorporate the technology, engineering, and art components of STEAM. There's also an application called iReady that designs lessons according to each individual students needs that is accessible via an iPad. That program has been proven to help students improve their mathematical skills.
There are endless programs and resources available via an iPad.
Unfortunately, schools in low income areas (like my school), do not have the financial resources to purchase up-to-date computers and tablets for children to use. Having iPad's for my students will help them emerge into the technology and education of today with just one touch!
