Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I love how excited our students are about ANYTHING. They love to come to school and work with each other and their teachers. Their home life presents many challenges, specifically linguistics and financial, causing them to grow up quickly. Students in our area often learn English as their second language. When not in school they are translators and baby sitters for their parents who often work long hours to make ends meet.
My students will grow into wonderful adults because as they persevere and overcome many challenges they still find a way to smile, be respectful and loving towards others.
They know I have their backs just as if they were my own children. Most importantly they are respectful and loving towards each other- cultivating a family atmosphere within their classes.
My Project
These iPads will help two of my students continue their education while NYC DOE schools are closed and students are remote learning. Students are using Google Classrooms right now but not all students have easy access to technology. The iPads will allow the hardest hit students to have the ability to continue learning.
These iPads will help provide some sense of normalcy for students who have had to face one of the most challenging and disruptive changes in their young lives.
Students who can sign into Google Classrooms will not only be able to continue their education but they will also have an outlet where they can communicate with their peers and teachers.
