My students need an iPad to be able to learn new technologies. There are countless apps that would benefit my Social Studies classes. Students would be more engaged in class.
Students need to be able to keep up with the technology. As students work towards high school and college, it is crucial to have access to new forms of technology for skills for future endeavors. Students will be able to gain useful information in an interesting manner.
The school is an International Baccalaureate school that focuses on Project-Based learning and cross-curricular connections.
The iPad would allow students to connect outside of the classroom while gaining the expected knowledge. The parish and school emphasize the integration of technology into each unit. The students are very energetic and benefit from lessons that use new technology and current trends. Most students do not have iPads and some even lack what you and I may consider basic technology in their home. I believe that the students would really benefit from daily integration of technology into the class. Students would be able to use the iPad daily for hands on learning. The school also use PBIS model to encourage good behavior and academic success. Having the opportunity to use an iPad daily in class would be a privilege leading to positive behavior and effort in class.
My Project
Students will be able to come into class daily and will expected an opportunity to use the iPad. Students will become more engaged, therefore, their learning will be enhanced. With countless apps available, there will always be new apps and information to keep the students engaged in the material. I will use the iPad for the bell activity, access primary sources, play audio clips, and for small group activities. Students will be able to have hands on experience with the popular technology today. This is crucial for future success in high school and college. Being tech savvy is essential to building a solid resume in our advancing world today!
This project would provide the students with the opportunity to learn in a different way.
Students are constantly using technology, so why not use as much in the classroom? The students will be engaged and excited for class daily. I have participated in iPad lessons and the students inquire about having the opportunity again on a regular basis. The engagement was beyond that of the daily activities in a "traditional" classroom.
