Help me give my students these games for indoor recess. It gets cold and rainy somedays, and the kids are stuck inside. Help me give them games like Sorry and Chess to make recess more fun.
My students are kind, caring and motivated. They are collaborative and helpful and a real to have around. I work very hard to create a classroom of safety and kindness, and we constantly work on collaboration skills, as we are learning. I try to provide times for them to also be children and to get to enjoy each other. I want my students to feel safe and welcome in the classroom, so on Fridays, we introduce new games and work together to play them. We also have indoor recesses on days that are cold and wet. I would love to have these games in my classroom, so that we can have fun and engaging activities to keep students busy. I also think it is important in this day and age to unplug from technology, so one of my goals is to teach students live long skills of collaboration, healthy competition, teamwork, and kindness. I try every week to give them 15-20 minutes of reward time but want them to do things like draw, create stories, or play games, where they learn to strategize, how to be good sports, learning strategies etc. that can only come through exposure to games. Some of my kids don't play games at home, and I think games teach us so many things- reading skills, direction following, cooperation, respect, strategy, math, language, team work, and how to compete kindly with good sportsmanship. Furthermore, we have a game club that goes on on Fridays, and I would love to get the kids some new games that are tried and true that they love. Sometimes, it is fun to play!
