Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always asking so many questions, always willing to learn and diving head first into new things. I think using hands-on learning allows me to reach all of my students and helps each of them understand in more ways than one way. They show up every day with their thinking caps on willing to tackle any problems that might come their way.
Many of my students come to school saying they can't want to see what we are going to learn today, and it is always said with such a positive and encouraging attitudes.
Our school is located on the southside of Oklahoma City. 100% of my students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. They come willing and ready to learn every day, so why not provide them with the best ways to learn!
My Project
My students have limited items to play with during inside recess. As most know, Oklahoma's weather is just always changing and we never know if it is going to rain, snow, be too cold, or just too hot for outdoor recess. The last three days my students have had indoor recess, and they have exhausted all games and activities in my classroom.
Many of my games are missing pieces, have broken boards, or are just too worn out and have had to be thrown away .
I am wanting to add more variety for my students to play during indoor recess. In addition, I would love to have magnetic tiles and games that have all of the pieces in the box, so they can play the games correctly. I just want my students to be able to have as much fun indoors during recess as possible.
