This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a new teacher in a new Pre-School Links classroom, for children with autism. This is my students first education experience, and hope to provide them with a great learning experience. My students need a gross motor area in the classroom due to the lack of a playground on school grounds. I also need a lot of visuals as some of my students are non verbal. I need ink, laminate and Velcro to help create interactive lessons, and visuals to promote my student’s communication skills. The new classroom is also still looking for furniture to make it complete, like a library! Of the things mentioned a gross motor area is of the upmost importance in order to strengthen their coordination, physical strength, and alertness (sensory processing).

My Project

My students do not have access to and outdoor playground. My goal is to create an indoor playground area for my Pre-K special ed class. I have space to work with so I am looking to use an assortment of gross motor activities including the bean bag toss, the physical activity classroom toolkit, and the step stumps. These tools will allow my students to have the gross motor breaks they need, allowing them to strengthen their coordination and physical strength.

Another layer to this project is that my student will access these actives by communication through pecs and similar programs I am also looking to fund these programs and supplies needed to promote my students growth.
