I teach in a self-contained emotional and behavior classroom. My classroom has students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. This is my first year teaching. My class focuses on learning self regulation skills, zones of regulation, and advocating for self needs. Most of my students are below grade level in all academic areas. All of my students are on IEP's and some receive additional support services such as occupational and speech therapy. My students come from all over the district.
My students are special because even though they face struggles they have a desire to learn and are becoming self managers better and better everyday.
Many of my students come from low-income family and rely on the school for snacks and or lunch.
My Project
Having room dividers will help decrease behaviors that some students exhibit with other peers. I currently do not have a way to make separate learning areas for my students during work time. These room dividers have been proven successful in a classroom with the same number of students, grade level, and classroom culture. I am a first year teacher who is building her classroom with the tools and resources that best benefit my students. My school is a Title I school.
These resources will be a huge help in diving my room up to ensure that everyone is learning in a safe environment.
