My Project
Every kid likes to see themselves reflected in the literature they given to read, at least now and then. I believe everyone should at least get that chance. This book (series) has, at its heart, indigenous peoples as the main characters. On top of that, it is beautifully written with well-developed characters that fit into our analysis and characterization unit perfectly. All students would have this as a choice which is good for every student in the room. The books we currently use are well-respected and fine choices, but not very diverse. This would be an opportunity to bring in to the classroom an extremely unrepresented population.
