Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing. I wish I could provide them with all the supplies, materials, and essentials this world has to offer. I want them to be successful not only in my Common Core Math 1 classroom but also in their future. Although we have just begun the school year I can already sense that this year is going to be remarkable.
There will be great math puzzles, activities, and games that challenge students to think and go further than they ever thought possible.
I will challenge the quiet students to speak up and voice their opinions, because what they have to say matters. I will challenge the problem solvers to come up with explanations and justifications using words. I will challenge those with little math confidence to not be afraid of making mistakes and to always ask questions.
My Project
The white index cards are going to be used by students to record important postulates, theorems, definitions, formulas, and properties.
Index cards are an essential tool to build academic vocabulary and conceptual understanding.
The table number holders are a great way to encourage collaboration and team building. When students are allowed to pick their own teams they always go to the people they are most comfortable with. It is important to give students the opportunity to talk to students they normally do not talk to. Having strategic grouping can be beneficial for not only the students who struggle, but also the students who excel.
