Independent Leaders

My students need headphones to work independently on their one to one devices and light covers and sensory fidgets to be able to work in a calming environment.

My Students

I teach in a high poverty, Title I school. Many of the families of the students that I serve are living in poverty and struggle to provide the basic necessities for their children. 60% of the school population qualify and receive free or reduced-price meals at school. Majority of my students receive food to take home on the weekends through a backpack program. Otherwise many of my students wouldn't have food on the weekends.

All of my students that I serve either have special needs or learning disabilities.

They all have to work extra hard just to stay on the "average" learning path. All of my students and I are and would be forever grateful to you for your donation to our classroom!

My Project

One of my goals for this school year is to help my students work more independently. This year all students have a one-to-one device to use during the school day. We are going to use these devices to gather some educational data, go on virtual field trips, and so much more.

My students are striving to become leaders in and outside of the classroom.

To be able to work independently with their one to one devices, my students need headphones to wear. To become more independent my students also need calming environment to work in with sensory options. I am asking for light filters and sensory fidgets to create a calm classroom that fosters success for all students.

All of these materials will impact each of my students' learning environments by allowing my students to effectively use their one to one devices in a calming work environment created through the sensory materials included in the project.
