My amazing fifth graders come from a very diverse background where 82% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I have special education students mainstreamed into my classroom. My classroom speaks more than six different languages! They have GRIT and do not give up!
My general education classroom has special education students and English language students who love to read, and play math games at our STEAM school.
Some of my students enter the classroom without school materials, and I provide the materials for those in need. It's amazing to see them succeed once they feel safe and secure in school. Even as fifth graders, they approach me for daily hugs. I look at my class as my family, and once they feel and believe it, the learning can really begin. There isn't anything I would not do to enhance their education.
Social distancing is the norm right now in classrooms. These comfy chairs help spread the students out in the room and they are focused on their work. We currently have 4 of these chairs in class and students are taking turns. The class would like 6 more chairs so more students can use them at once.
A comfy seating option when learning away from our desks will help students work independently and successfully.
These chairs will give students the space to work safely and independently, and they are easy to clean. We can hold a small group lesson if we have more chairs. Students can work with partners. They are also great for reading independently.
