My Students

Do you remember thinking that you might know the answer to the teacher's question but you weren't confident enough to volunteer? Using individual whiteboards to record a student's answers and thoughts is a great way to motivate all the students in a class to be engaged in their learning.

My students are in middle school science, 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Middle school science can be the most challenging subject to some students because of the abstract concepts that are included in the curriculum. Using a whiteboard will help motivate them become more engaged and thinking aloud about these hard vision concepts, like cells and atoms.

My Project

I can use the student whiteboards to motivate even my most reluctant learners to participate in class discussions. Writing answers on a whiteboard instead of saying it out loud in class provides a sense of safety that is so important to middle schoolers.

With this project, I will be able to increase student engagement in class and therefore increase their learning.

Also by having students write down their answers I incorporating important reading and writing skills into science class on a daily basis.
