This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I love you, Mrs. M.!" Every time I hear a student tell me this, my heart grows bigger. Seeing the students' excitement as they learn new things makes me happy that I became a teacher.

I work in a large Title 1 school in California where 10% of our students are identified as homeless.

Despite their difficult home life, these students eagerly come to school. Yes, they dream of having a home to call their own, but they also dream of becoming teachers, policemen and doctors.

My Project

With today's emphasis on technology, it is important to give my students the advantage of using the internet to further their learning in all the core subjects. This would give not only my students the chance to use a computer, whether to research a subject, or using educational apps to help with their learning, but I can also use it for class presentations, as well as read-alouds.

My second graders enjoy reading and listening to great books, so why not have them not only visualize a story, but also give them an opportunity to see stories shown in different ways or from different cultures?

The internet is a gateway to the world, giving my students a bird's eye view of other cultures and people from other countries.
