My school is in the beginning stages of offering computer science education to our students. The next step is to motivate students to take advantage of the opportunities and help them enjoy learning!
My students are a mixed group of 9th through 12 graders with different levels of computing knowledge and different levels of self-confidence about their capabilities.
They are each individuals in terms of their interests and future goals, but they are all living in the same world where the necessity to understand technology is growing exponentially.
My Project
Due to the national movement to introduce more students to computer science in high school, I offered an introductory computer science and programming course for the first time this year. Over the course of the year I have collected different pieces of Raspberry Pi projects for my small class.
Due to the course's success, the number of students pursuing computer science is expected to more than double, but we are not prepared for the increased demand.
I am asking for the missing pieces of multiple kits so that I would be able to do hands on computing with a full classroom. These pieces include, 2 Raspberry Pis, 2 monitors, 4 sense hats, and 10 camera modules.
With these items we will be able to collect and project weather data, make motion activated security cameras, and use student creativity to solve other every day problems with technology.
