Having Raspberry Pis will allow my students to get their hands dirty with computing. The kits allow for infinitely many real world programming possibilities. Based on the increased dependence on technology, our country is in need of more CS Majors, and students are 98% more likely to study computer science if they are exposed to it in high school. In order to meet the national goal of producing more computer scientists, I need to provide exciting hands on projects like programming a motion activated security camera that can send picture alerts to a smart phone, or an alarm that measures the temperature in a car to ensure pets do not experience dangerous conditions.

About my class
