This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a dedicated National Board Certified Education Specialist working in a high school environment. Our Title I school serves a diverse population, and I am inspired by the determination of my students as they navigate social, emotional, and academic challenges. In my Community-Based Instruction (CBI) class, we have had the opportunity to engage in various activities, including joining the yearbook staff, participating in school events, volunteering in the community, and serving on the Associated Student Body (ASB). My students thrive in movement and hands-on experiences, and I am truly honored to be their teacher, striving to encourage them to surpass their greatest expectations.

Inclusion Matters!

Last semester, I launched the Inclusive Video Game Cafe, a lunch club designed to foster friendships and create accessible gaming opportunities for students who use wheelchairs. The addition of the Nintendo Switch 2, a projector, and a specially designed cabinet will enhance this experience, providing students with even more chances to collaborate and connect. The cabinets will help students organize their supplies, preparing them for each club and tournament. The projector will allow students to see their peers engage in esports/tournaments. This is an opportunity to challenge each other through tournaments and create authentic relationships in support of inclusion. Every Thursday, we gather to cultivate an atmosphere of compassion, kindness, and inclusion. I wholeheartedly believe in the importance of inclusion and deeply appreciate your support in this endeavor.
