Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My special education students each have an incentive chart on their desks. When their chart is filled up, they get to go to the prize box, They work so hard each and every day to earn stickers on their charts.
Having these prizes would mean so much to them.
These prizes will be given for a variety of reasons. To earn a prize, students may have to reach a learning goal or maintain classroom expectations. Using a prize box can be a great motivator. It can also aid in making the classroom feel like a positive, welcoming environment. Many times, the prize box works as a motivational tool. When students see something in the prize box that they want, students may instantly decide to do whatever it takes to be rewarded with that item. The bins would be used to store all of the prizes so they have a place to "shop" . There is persistence in getting that prize. The prize becomes a tangible validation of the child's learning. This can help the child gain an interest in his or her learning as well.
