This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The more excitement we can drum up leading into our spring Project Based Learning STEM Showcase, the more likely families are to attend, so we are raffling off these fun coding devices! Our students love to code (who doesn't enjoy a good robot?) and these age-appropriate products will allow them to continue the fun at home. We will raffle the mice to one student in each grade from PreK through two, and the art bot to students in grades three through five. It is important to increase participation at our school events so that students get the opportunity to share their amazing projects with their families and community members. This year, students have taken on a variety of issues around the school from water quality to sustainability and increasing the food production in our gardens! We want to do everything we can to ensure they have an audience for their work and a chance to share their passion by attending our event.
This raffle incentive will help us generate excitement for our STEM Showcase, and it's important that we have as many families in attendance as possible!
Because the projects students are showing target environmental improvements, the project falls under the Climate and the Environment category. Students looked around the school and asked themselves, "What can we do to make a difference?" From a new gardening schedule for the school to increase food production, to student-created signs explaining plant and tree care; the more people we involve in the work, the greater the difference we can make!
