Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember being told to run faster or work harder in Physical Education, but in reality you were working hard. Just because you weren't the all star athlete doesn't mean your body wasn't working as hard as one.
My students are energetic and inspiring seventh graders at a public middle school in California.
Our middle school is a 6-8 middle and is the only Title 1 middle school in our district. It is a large school of 1400 students that feed in from a variety of elementary schools. Our diverse school population allow students to learn and respect cultural and individual differences. We have worked hard to keep up with the growing need of technology in all subject areas.
My Project
Let our students have equal opportunity to prove they are working in their heart rate zones. The IPad mini will allow the students to be evaluated using heart rate monitors in their sport units and cardiovascular fitness. The bluetooth smart technology will allow me to track the students fitness and take out the subjective notion of whether I think they are working in their fitness zone. The overall fitness levels will increase and students will be based individually versus being based on effort and general times. This will allow students of all fitness levels succeed and improve.
The iPad mini will bring consistency and fairness to evaluating all students in Physical Education.
Students will be held to a higher standard which will be based off their individual statistics. This will allow for personal improvements and development of lifelong fitness.
