The iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Pencil have been a game changer for my students' learning. I use them daily to present slideshows that bring historical events to life, and most importantly, to annotate documents during our DBQ (document based question) lessons and text analysis activities. My English Learners can watch in real time as I model how to determine central ideas, make inferences, and cite textual evidence. These skills are essential for writing the multi-paragraph essays required in Social Science. This visual annotation process has made these abstract reading strategies more concrete and accessible. I've also been able to show educational videos that provide context for complex historical events, and the timer function has helped my students develop their time management skills as they work independently and prepare for timed writing assessments. The iPad has changed how I teach critical thinking and writing skills that will serve my students beyond the four walls of my classroom. \r\n\r\nThe white boards and expo markers have sparked high levels of engagement. I've truly seen 100% engagement and participation using the white boards. The students have used them to answer questions and practice writing thesis statements. We've even turned inference practice into an interactive game where students draw pictures or write scenarios on their white boards depicting historical situations, and their classmates practice trying to make logical inferences based on their peers' examples. Students are literally asking to come to PACE (our tutorial period) to continue practicing with the white boards. For my English Learners, the white boards especially provide a low-stakes way for them to participate without fear of making permanent mistakes, and the immediate feedback helps build their confidence and skills simultaneously. \r\n\r\nThe white board tape has been essential for organizing my main classroom white board. I've used it to create dedicated sections so students always know where the daily learning objective and homework assignments will be located. This has been helpful for creating a structured routine at the start of class each day in which students write down the objective and homework in their planner during the first few minutes of the class period. The sanitizing wipes have also allowed me to keep a clean and healthy classroom learning environment by wiping down students' chairs and tables between classes so that every student sits down to a fresh and clean workspace. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has created an environment where my students' learning is active, engaging, accessible, organized, safe, and clean. Thank you for believing in and supporting my students and investing in their success!","fullyFundedDate":1753412354635,"projectUrl":"project/whiteboards-to-wonder-tools-to-think-s/9449684/","projectTitle":"Whiteboards to Wonder: Tools to Think, Share, & Shine","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Webster","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10072459_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y304&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751924418478","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10072459"},{"teacherId":8696473,"projectId":9479261,"letterContent":"Thanks to your incredible generosity, my 6th grade students began the school year with all the basic materials they needed—and the impact has been truly meaningful. From pencils and glue sticks to markers and cleaning supplies, every item has played a crucial role in transforming our classroom into a more creative, clean, and engaging learning environment. The excitement on my students' faces when they first saw the supplies was unforgettable; for many of them, having access to brand-new materials felt special and empowering. It sent a clear message: their learning matters, and people out there believe in them.\r\n\r\nWith the materials we received, we were able to complete several hands-on projects that brought our curriculum to life. One standout moment was our Cuba cultural posters—students dove into researching traditional foods, music, clothing, and events, and then expressed their learning visually using the donated supplies. Another highlight was our collaborative Selena portrait project, where each student contributed a square of the drawing; when all the pieces were assembled, the image came together beautifully, and the pride they felt was palpable. These experiences not only deepened their learning but also built community and confidence.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're continuing to build on these creative projects with lessons that emphasize collaboration, expression, and cultural understanding. The basic materials continue to support us daily—whether it's a sharpened pencil for a writing prompt or clean desks to maintain a respectful space. Your donation didn't just supply tools; it created moments of joy, connection, and discovery. Thank you for making a lasting difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1753412354560,"projectUrl":"project/basic-materials-for-6th-graders/9479261/","projectTitle":"Basic Materials for 6th graders","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Henriquez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8696473_orig.png?crop=339,339,x19,y96&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663094247835","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8696473"},{"teacherId":9246559,"projectId":8770442,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my classroom and students. With our online math practice, students are very excited to be able to show their work on their screen using the digital writing tablets! Additionally, students really appreciate the way that I can show them math problems on the screen from anywhere in the room using my tablet and Apple TV wirelessly. I have students who will walk into class, grab their digital tablet and get to work quickly just because they love using the technology.\r\n\r\nSince most things are moving quickly to digital access exclusively, I feel that not only is this new technology beneficial but also essential to students learning how to navigate a new tool. Some students were frustrated at first because they had never used a digital tablet. However, after practicing with the tablet and pen they were able to see the value and how beneficial it is to their practice.\r\n\r\nThis access to technology would not have been possible without your support.
