Help me give my students hands on science kits and Teacher Pay Teacher gift cards.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wilson's classroom raised $619

My Students
My students are beautiful and brilliant. Our class consists of multi-level learners. Our school is a high-poverty, Title I school, meaning that one hundred percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. A fraction of my students are homeless, and many of my other students have houses or apartments they share with one or more families. Some of my students do not have a bed to sleep on. I've noticed they are hungry in the mornings and by midday. We are an extended day school where the kids stay later than a usual school dismissal time.
Our school is located in a high-poverty neighborhood, but my students work very hard every day.
Our class has a ninety-eight percent attendance rate, which means the students rarely miss school. We value our learning time. My students come from multi-ethnic backgrounds, each with distinctive cultural traditions. In our classroom, we blend our traditions to form strong community ties.
My Project
Currently, students in my classes learn about Science from various magazine articles and videos that the teachers have collected and prepared for them. Although these resources provide vocabulary and information, it is extremely difficult for kids to fully understand how erosion occurs or how earthquakes shape the land without proper demonstration.
Without observation and visually witnessing some topics, it is very difficult for kids to conceptualize abstract ideas, especially those that take place over long periods of time, or those deep inside the Earth.
These Teacher Pay Teacher gift cards would be use to purchase other resources that will help students in reading and math. They will be use to help improve or support what is being taught in class.
Sometimes students' workbook are not enough to teach a skill.
Being able to purchase other resources will help students learn in a different way with different activities.
Help me by supporting this project so that I can continue on this journey of making sure I meet the needs of all my curious and smart students in my class.
