My students need a storage unit to store variety of hands on manipulatives to learn in the best way possible for their little developing minds. In order to provide this quality of learning, manipulatives must be readily available and organized.

My Students
Our classroom is made up of a variety of fabulous children. We range from the children who come from two parent homes with very involved families, to foster children kneeling each night praying for a family. Academically we range from a cute boy with down syndrome who has taught us all so much about acceptance and caring, to an excited guy with autism that has taught us about being happy and loving no matter the situation, to our average little sponge learners that take any and everything I have to offer and soak it in. We share our successes and our opportunities for growth and work to learn characteristics that will improve our ability to contribute in society.
As a teacher of our earliest learners in kindergarten, I feel I have an important responsibility to create a love of learning, a feeling of success no matter their level and foster an acceptance of each other and our different abilities.
When we share our written compositions, whether basic and simple or detailed and accomplished, we celebrate the same.
My Project
The shallow pool of 2 or 3 different manipulatives provided by most boxed curriculum, lends itself to boredom and inattention during critical learning times. We must have a variety of manipulatives, and they need to be organized and stored in a kid-friendly way. This 20 cubby storage shelf will allow children to independently utilize materials and manipulatives that interest them. They can get them out, use them and return them to their proper place easily with the see through totes. Independance is an important skill for our youth to learn and possess. Our earliest learners also develop by using their fine and gross motor skills when engaging with manipulatives. In addition to the self help and motor skills offered by this usable storage, it also assists with a tidy, organized room. Research shows that children learn better in an environment that is organized and structured.
