A lot of my students are struggling right now. Some have lost family members, others have parent's that are essential employees and have had to step up as caregivers to younger siblings. In addition, many are lacking the technology they need to fully engage with distance learning. Many are also living in small, cramped spaces with multiple people, with no desk or room to work quietly in, potentially taking turns with one household device to get work done.
It is my job as their teacher to keep my students engaged and motivated to stay home and learn during this stressful and frustrating time for them.
To do this without any of my usual materials is difficult. In the classroom, I rely on the many manipulatives and art supplies, chromebooks and lab equipment to keep them entertained and actively learning. Now, I have a computer screen. I can embedded powerpoints and videos into my live lessons with them, but this isn't enough. And this is all I have to last me the rest of the school year, and possible beyond that since we are not allowed back into our classrooms.
My Project
I'm struggling to do my job to its full capacity without the ability to print. I no not have an at-home printer nor do I want to risk going to the UPS store to print essential documents, IEPs, applications, worksheets, and other lesson resources I need hard copies of.
I hope you will consider funding this very needed printer for my home-classroom.
It's a difficult time financially for everyone, so I appreciate your generosity in this time more than you can know. I promise to make good use of these items and ensure they are used to benefit all of my 150 students during our Distance Learning time.
