Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our student athletes are eager to improve and elevate their skills to the next level. Through our strength and conditioning program for our high school and middle school students, we are teaching student athletes important skills. Some of those skills include discipline, commitment, time management, health and team building. It is the first year for our strength and conditioning program, so we are trying to add some important equipment such as the vertical jump measuring tool, kettlebells and weighted total body bars.

Here at Hazleton, we are a low-income school district with 100% of our students receiving free & reduced lunch.

Providing an outlet, such as strength and conditioning, boosts out student participation, confidence and overall health. Students in 7th-12th grade will benefit from this equipment. The vertical jump measuring tool will help students track their progress and performance, which will give them a goal to reach for. The kettlebells and the weighted bars will be used for many upper, lower and total body exercises that will assist in contributing to increased sports performance & overall health.

Our student athletes are extremely talented and eager to improve their sports performance. The equipment will also be accessible to the high school gym classes to utilize throughout the school day. I have seen so many of our student athletes' confidence boost and performance enhance just within the first couple months of our strength and conditioning program. The sky is the limit!!
