Improving My Teaching Through National Board Certification Maintenance

My Project
Regardless of completing my tenth year of teaching and four years since I first achieved National Board certification, opportunities to reflect and grow continue to be important to my practice. The initial National Board certification process was intense but deeply meaningful, as it gave me structure and accountability toward improving my teaching and identifying what student needs are.
Maintenance of Certification (MOC) through the National Board allows me to engage in this reflective process again, adjusting to changes in myself, our students and the world.
COVID and increasing cell phone usage brought to light how our students need support around behavior management and social-emotional learning. Meanwhile, fast-paced developments in AI and other technology mean our curriculum must adapt to remain relevant to our students' futures.
My focal points for this MOC will be improving mock interview workshops for seniors and incorporating a sociology, macro lens in career and technical education.
