This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an educator in a high-poverty/low-income school, students are faced with numerous challenges before they even enter the school doors each day. Regardless of what is occurring at home, school is a great escape and a safe place to learn. I am fortunate enough to work at a school where we focus on building positive relationships and helping each student grow not only academically, but emotionally and socially. We strive to provide them with the tools to succeed in and out of the classroom.

Having more engaging learning activities that build not only academics, but fine motor skills is crucial in kindergarten.

Students at this age need to build hand strength and confidence for writing. These activities will also help improve academic skills at the same time. Some of the items will be used in the sensory table to help build hand strength and the others will be used to reinforce concepts being taught in the classroom such as letter and number recognition. These materials will be used daily in the classroom.
