Important Communication

My students need Velcro for the many personal communication books and adapted books we make for them. They are autistic and have limited speaking skills or are non-verbal.

My Students

I teach first and second grade autistic children. Their needs vary, some have limited speaking skills and others are non-verbal. In order for them to succeed in the classroom they need personal communication books as well as adapted books. This is where the Velcro comes in handy. We use a lot!

My students are first and second graders who are diagnosed with autism.

Some have limited speaking skills and others are non-verbal. They are lovable and full of energy! Our school is in an urban setting and offers grades K-8. Some can read and others can not. This is where the adapted books are an essential asset when adapting the curriculum.

My Project

My students need Velcro for the many personal communication books and adapted books we make for them. The resources that are listed will enable me to make additional adapted books and add other pictures to their communication books. The tape will be extremely useful when we need to hang various posters and rules around the room. It will also help us to display our work on bulletin boards and the walls.

These donations will greatly inhance the students accessability to the curriculumm as well as communication skills.

There are students with limited speaking skills and others who are non-verbal. Many pictures are used in personal communication books as well as labeling throughout the room. Velcro is an essential staple that we need to have available. Please help our students to succeed in the classroom.
