My students need a variety of seating options while working on our projects. Things like clipboards and lap trays will be very helpful for students choosing to sit in a more comfortable seat instead of desks.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach an enrichment STEM project-based class. My students work hard on various STEM type projects throughout the school year that have real-world application to them. This gives the students a sense of why they need to learn math, science, English, and social studies.
My students are creative critical thinkers that have to solve all sorts of real-world problems in my classroom.
A good majority of my students are qualified as Gifted & Talented. These type of students do not always prosper in a normal classroom setting. I also have several students classified as ADHD and need alternative seating options to be successful.
My students come to my class excited to learn and ready to work. We do a lot of team building and group projects. It's a fun class, but also a very challenging class that gives students many real-world experiences. Each of my students leaves my class with greater leadership skills and lots of hands-on experiences.
My Project
We do lots of STEM-based projects all year long in my classroom. Most of my students prefer to sit or lay on the floor while working on their projects instead of sitting at desks. Sitting or laying on our cold tile floor is not the most comfortable, but the students seem to appreciate it more than sitting in desks or lab tables.
With these flexible seating options, my students will have better seating choices so they can focus and work on their projects while being comfortable at the same time.
Students work harder and tend to be more successful if they feel comfortable. By giving my students these various fun and comfortable seating options, I'm also giving my students the opportunity to be more successful in their school work.
Each of the items I have chosen are easy to move around the room depending on the type of project we are doing. I have picked out several different types of chairs or cushions to sit on instead of desks (bean bags, balance discs, and inflatable chairs). And with the help of the clipboards and lap desks, students will be able to work while lounging in their comfortable seating options.
