We do lots of STEM-based projects all year long in my classroom. Most of my students prefer to sit or lay on the floor while working on their projects instead of sitting at desks. Sitting or laying on our cold tile floor is not the most comfortable, but the students seem to appreciate it more than sitting in desks or lab tables. With these flexible seating options, my students will have better seating choices so they can focus and work on their projects while being comfortable at the same time. Students work harder and tend to be more successful if they feel comfortable. By giving my students these various fun and comfortable seating options, I'm also giving my students the opportunity to be more successful in their school work. Each of the items I have chosen are easy to move around the room depending on the type of project we are doing. I have picked out several different types of chairs or cushions to sit on instead of desks (bean bags, balance discs, and inflatable chairs). And with the help of the clipboards and lap desks, students will be able to work while lounging in their comfortable seating options.
