Immigrants And Refugees Finding Their Voices Through Books & Projects!

My students need a color printer, ink and other quality materials to create individual books representing their cultures and identities!

My Students

My students are all immigrants and refugees that are newly arrived and excited to learn the American education system. They come from numerous countries including Guatemala, Syria, Congo, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, El Salvador and Rwanda. Our school is made up of all students receiving free lunch. Many of our students have escaped war and come to America to have a better life.

They are determined to succeed and need materials and resources that will help with this journey.

Although they live in impoverished neighborhoods, their drive and potential sees no boundaries.

My Project

These materials will allow my newly arrived students opportunities to create books representative of their cultures and native countries. Self expression and finding their identities is crucial for these students. The color printer, laminating materials, book binder and writing utensils will be utilized for multiple projects.

For my eager and sweet students, engaging and meaningful experiences are vital in developing a strong sense of self!

The composition notebooks will be used as journals to document their journeys and growth! The students enjoy using highlighters to find important information and will use markers to create visuals to share cultural information! We are so excited!
