My students need two Samsung Galaxy Books to run Microsoft OneNote Digital notebooks WITH the learning tools and immersive reader add in. This will be exceptionally helpful for my students that have relocated from Puerto Rico.
We like to tech things out! In this classroom, we have students who are eager to work with technology! We are at a Title I school which means that many of our students are on free or reduced price lunch. My students are HARD workers and persevere to do their best! They thrive on the use of technology within the classroom. The use of digital notebooks in our classroom allow the students to show a variety of ways which they understand content.
They are a group of people that include a variety of exceptionalities including Deaf and Hard of Hearing within the general education classroom, students that have relocated from Puerto Rico, and gifted students.
My Project
Our students are thriving in the digital world! Our class is working to incorporate that into our daily lessons through the use of Samsung Galaxy digital notebooks for math and science. Our school is a Title 1 school and currently, we do not have enough classroom devices for a one to one classroom. We have worked hard and received some tablets, however, they are not on a windows operating system and without that- students that have relocated from Puerto Rico due to the storms are unable to use all of the tools with our notebooks that are going to be valuable to their learning.
After Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, Hillsborough County schools were welcoming students at an alarming rate.
I am so lucky to have students that recently joined our class as well. The use of the learning tools and immersive reader within OneNote on these devices will be critical to support language acquisition within our 3rd grade classroom. Learning tools can help build fluency for English language learners or readers of other languages and build confidence through the use of syllabication tools, immersive reading tools, and enhanced dictation. These devices will allow displaced students to feel assured that are part of our classroom family and we are ready and willing to help them!
