Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students in my science classes, especially my Honors classes, are expected to maintain a high level of rigor throughout the school year. Students are always working hard and know that they need to apply themselves in order to succeed. For this reason, I feel it is important to create a safe and comfortable learning space for my students. They need to know that even though I am pushing them, I care about their mental health and well-being.
I want to give my students science fiction books that will provide them with a break from the rigors of classwork here and there with a much-needed restock of pens and pencils.
Students maintain such a high level of achievement throughout the year that a break is sometimes necessary. Plus, some students are such achievers that they complete their work with time to spare. I want to provide these students with books that they can enjoy to help them relax and recuperate.
