Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a public elementary school located in Southern California, which serves a diverse group of students, including a large population who are limited in English proficiency and low-income. Since we are an AVID school, we try to prepare all students for college, careers, and life through a variety of skills and strategies.
My eager first grade students are interested, curious, and creative learners.
They love coming to school every day, not only to learn the first grade content, but to engage in art, explore with science and technology, and learn with music. Since our school is Title I, we often lack sufficient resources, therefore I am asking that you help my students overcome obstacles and achieve success.
My Project
Incorporating art not only enhances young, developing, and creative minds, but it also improves fine motor skills. So art implementation is an essential element in my classroom. This year, I am very eager to utilize art more often because I have witnessed the joy, excitement, and creativity that art brings to growing minds. Therefore, the use of these art supplies will provide a creative and fun learning experience for students.
After learning about a particular topic, such as plants or animals in science, students will be given the opportunity to create a piece of work, in their own unique and imaginative way.
Many of these projects call for the use of various forms of paint in which may be the students first experience engaging with this particular medium.
