Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students must not only have the ability to read and comprehend the written word, they must also be able to interpret video and media. It is our duty as literacy teachers to provide updated equipment to teach students how to manage the creation of media and digital video. By the end of the year, students will have the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, and communicate a variety of media messages. My students are very engaged in media and video production, and know the roles and responsibilities they have as members of a digital society. Many of my students have an interest in pursuing a career in media, broadcasting, or a video technology related field in the future.
My Project
I am requesting 1 iMac to develop media literacy skills and create and edit music and videos.
The National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) believes that media literacy is the process of teaching how to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and communicate using media in all of its forms and supports many of the most challenging goals of the Common Core State Standards.
My goal is to integrate media literacy into our Language Arts Classroom.
Using a newer iMac, the students will create projects using GarageBand, iMovie, and Final Cut Pro X to participate in media literacy competitions.
By receiving this resource, my students will be able to grow necessary technology usage skills. We intend to participate in media literacy competitions including local film festivals, county fairs, PSA contests, as well as classroom assignments.
With your donations, my students will learn about the generosity of others and show gratitude for every donation received. Through the integration of this technology, I will be able to foster students’ media literacy skills and cultivate their curiosity for learning.
