Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching is the best job out there! My students give me hope, make me laugh, challenge me, and inspire me to be better. Working in one of the largest middle schools in New York City, I am surrounded by bright minds, active imaginations and curious people just waiting to get their minds blown!
I invite my students to think critically, analyze thoughtfully, and communicate their understanding of science effectively.
With more exposure to the wonders of science and how science shapes their daily lives, my students will grow towards being more scientifically literate!
My Project
Every child dreams of their first dissection, that moment they explore what are living things are made of. They explore questions like, how are living things alike? What makes my arm different than a chicken wing? My students will have the opportunity to not only answer these questions but ask many more as they investigate living things using the amazing tools you can donate! During each of their dissections, they will construct claims about specific parts and their functions and collect evidence to support or refute those claims.
A science class dissection is something that can make a lasting impression on a child; help me provide my students the equipment they need to achieve scientific literacy!
This is a gift that will be used over and over again for hundreds of New York City students!
