This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This year, I have the pleasure of teaching a great group of second grade scholars. They come to school eager to learn more about the world around them and ask questions about what's going on in our world.
These kiddos will come in the door ready to learn and have fun, despite their difficulties at home.
As a teacher in a Title I school, many of my students come from poverty-stricken, low-income homes. Some also are learning English as a second language and others have special needs.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Some of my students live in a shelter or motels or are living with other families.
My students will laugh, cry, hug, giggle, play, and learn all in one place: their classroom. Therefore, I am eager and ready to help them achieve their dreams.
My Project
We are an Avid school which means we are preparing students to be college and career ready. As a part of that, I would love to put up pennants from different colleges to show them that they have options when they graduate from high school.
Our students need to know that there are options they have beyond high school, and we are preparing and readying them for a bright future.
I also added some HBCU t-shirts because I couldn't get the pennants and books about different careers they can pursue. All of my students may not go to college, but I want to expose them to different options with it and jobs they could have because of the positive choices they make for their futures.
