I am a special needs inclusion teacher for 10 first and second graders. Due to Covid-19, my students are attempting to take part in distance learning. The majority of my students are at or below the poverty level. It is often extremely difficult for them to access technology and some of them I’m actually having to reach via telephone only. I would love to get some books and activities in their hands during these crazy times. Just because we’re apart doesn’t mean they shouldn’t still be learning!
My Project
I would like to get interactive journals and reading/phonics manipulatives into my students’ hands. The majority of my ESE students do not have access to the internet and technology. These students are already behind their peers, please help me put resources into their hands that will help them close the gap. These students need hands-on materials to keep their education as “normal” as possible during these crazy and unsettling times. My students and their families often have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. They shouldn’t have to worry about their child falling further behind.
