My Students

Eager, elated and excited!! That's how I would describe all of the first graders this year. Our amazing kiddos have missed being in the classroom and they arrive at school each day with nothing but anticipation for what exciting concepts will be unfolded to them. They have been sorely deprived of seeing the physical results of their learning since everything has been done virtually for the last year and a half.

Independent, driven, and excited to shine!

Our school is brand new this year to the community. We have the incredible opportunity to create new traditions for our school, as well as our community. These kiddos are eager to learn and see the results of their hard work and dedication. This class of kiddos is driven and eager to succeed.

My Project

Every student should be able to see the results of their work. As a result of Covid, most of their accomplishments could only be seen through on a computer screen. I want these amazing kiddos to see the results of their months and months of hard work by making something tangible and long-lasting.

I want these kiddos to design, create and publish their own books!

I want my students, as well as other students in our school, to use all of the skills that they have mastered (and continue to improve on). I want them to create books that they can share with others, read aloud to their families and cherish as a keepsake for the future, forever reminding them of their own success, through hard work. By using all of the skills they have learned so far this year: grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, art, computer skills, etc., it enables them to see how every topic in school is relevant and that they are connected.

Writing a book takes time, precision, and hard work. These tools will empower my kiddos, and instill in them a sense of accomplishment and pride. When they've each made their books I want them to forever to able to say, "I'm an author!"
