Kindergarten students are a blessing to teach. Every day they come to class they are excited and willing to learn all that they can. I love to supply them with all the materials and resources that I can so they can get differentiated learning opportunities. These students are excited to see all the different ways they can learn since they have a smaller attention span we change up activities and lessons quite often.
Making sure these students have everything they need is a challenge that I seek to take care.
Being at a school that is low poverty and depends on 100% funding makes it challenging and that is why we reach out for donations. These students deserve the opportunities that every other student gets so they can learn all that they can. I make it a priority of mine as their teacher to give them all the resources and opportunities that I can. The more we do, the more they learn. I love to see the glow in their eyes when they get to learn in many different ways and not just by using paper and pencils.
Technology plays an important role in the learning experience. Many of the resources that we use are on the Chromebook which helps to keep the students engaged in learning. This helps to see where the students are in the learning process and gives me the opportunity to check data on how they are doing. During the school day we do a lot of writing, reading, and hands-on activities. After this occurs, there are assignments that they can turn to on the Chromebook to check how they are doing with the lesson on an independent level. This is a great tool for helping the students to succeed.
If you’ve got ears say cheer!
To help them be more successful on their Chromebooks they need to hear what is being said. For the kindergarteners, the resources that are used read to them and help them to stay on track with what is going on. This is why I know the students would love to get their own pair of headphones that will be just for them. Students who can hear their own computers and not all the noise in the room can focus more on their own success.
