My students need a laptop computer to be able to Skype with classrooms around the world. We will also create unique projects through green screen technology, music, and art.
21st Century Learning has come to my classroom! What does that mean for my students? We will connect with other children around the globe. We will create art & music with the use of technology. I am changing the way I think about teaching in my classroom, and opening the doors to new possibilities.
My first graders are an energetic group of students from central Minnesota.
We have a wonderful school with preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students. Our environment is very child-oriented, staffed with warm and caring adults, and filled with laughter. My students are eager to learn and quickly become my school family.
My Project
I am piloting a 21st century classroom, which includes the innovative use of technology. Some of the things I want to do with my 1st graders is to Skype with other classrooms across the globe! I already have contacts established in Malaysia, Vietnam, Italy and Columbia. I have an engineer at NASA ready to read to my students! I also want to use the laptop to blog about my experience in this pilot project, as well have my students share their experience through Kidblog.org. In addition, I will have students use the laptop to create art and music projects including green screens, which can be shared through Skype, email, Kidblog, Seesaw and a few other wonderful apps available to us. As we get more iPads (we will start with 5 for 20-21 students to share), it would also be easier to sync our devices with a like device. I also want to become highly trained in Google and Apple, to help guide and teach other educators on their journey of technology integration in the classroom.
Your donations to this project will help my students understand the world we live in is large, yet can be connected by technology.
Friendships will develop across the globe as we track our Skype adventures. Creativity will be sparked as students see their art and music enriched and shared with family and friends across the world through blog and Skype. Finally, your donations will help me to become a teacher resource for others.
