My Project
Two favorite student activities in our classroom are writing and STEAM challenges. A center activity students participate in is “Selfie Writing”. Students write about a prompt and take a selfie picture when they are done. The cardstock will be used to print off writing students do throughout the school year. At the end of the year, I compile the writing into a book for students to keep. Students and families love seeing their writing (and pictures) progress throughout the school year.
My students love STEAM challenges and writing their own books!
Students spend their indoor recess time creating their own non-fiction books. They have even created a book tub to hold their student created books! I would like to give students sturdy blank books to inspire and encourage their love of writing.
A STEAM challenge that the whole class greatly enjoys is using the green screen. We recently created one made from green tablecloths. It worked but did not produce good quality photos. Students designed floats and used the "green screen" to transport themselves into the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. We would love to have a more permanent green screen that would better meet our needs.
